UPCOMING GIGS: Private Charity Gig, London, 31st March 2011

Mixing with the stars!

I can hardly believe I had the opportunity perform in front of the likes of Josie D'arby and Geff Francis! Though I kinda chickened out of performing my 3rd track, a new song I had written just the day before (I was scared I'd forget the words, lol!)

I felt so glamourous rocking my new pink dress from Karen Millan and the most most luxurious necklace from The Silver Ribbon. http://www.thesilverribbon.co.uk/

The last tube was at 00.35 so after taking a quick pic with ''Miss West Africa'' we had to leg it! Heels off, running barefoot through swiss cottage tube station we somehow arrived at the platform with one minute to spare. I then attempted to serenade man on the train with an unaccompanied version of my song ''Transform me''. Good times.

I plead - Not guilty...

Yesterday I got stopped by the police. They asked Steve (my pianist) to pull over and step out the car. Have you ever had that feeling where you know you haven't done anything wrong (well at least nothing comes to mind) but you're feeling guilty anyway. I won't go through all the details (they thought Steve wasn't insured to drive it, but he was) but after about 20 mins of chatting to two quite charming policeman we were finally able to begin the 5 hour trek to Leeds for the YES WE CAN showcase. Stuck in traffic, 15 mins before arrival (according to the sat-nav) I received a phone call saying that I was on in 20 mins!!! After running around Leeds University campus, keyboard in hand desperately trying to find the venue, we arrived and fortunately, the showcase was yet to begin. I was first act on. I really enjoyed it and the crowd did too! A girl came to speak to me after saying that she has been following my youtube videos for a year - I was so delighted. Back at the hotel, I watched the first two episodes of  'THE EVENT'. Awesome drama. I'm definitely hooked...

This is how I roll...

I ate the most delicious giant chocolate chip cookie just before heading on stage at  'Chloe's auction of promises' event. Mmm... I can still taste it....Great set, I love performing, which is helpful given I'll be doing tons of it this month! One could say that the real entertainment was the ''I can't believe what I'm seeing'' bidding war! They raised £2600 for Chloe's mission trip to Inda. I tell you the truth when I say there were hands permanently raised in the air, lol. I had to make an early exit. In need of a good nights sleep for our presenter auditions tomorrow - so excited!!!

p.s. Me, my guitarist (Raoul) and keys player (Steve) nipped to a kebab place after soundcheck (pls note: I did not order any food) and I was looking very out-of place-in my cocktail dress and heels. The strange looks I was receiving inspired this HIT song called, ''this is how I roll.'' We made it up there and then! I really liked it - my band aren't seeing it's full potential :(

Alive

Alive. Thats the name of my debut single. Why bring it up today? Because it is FINALLY ready!!! Whoop! Whoop! I received the mastered version (ready for radio play version) today from a sicko called Streaky.
I was literally bouncing on my seat when it magically appeared in my inbox, LITERALLY. And then I started dancing! The kind of silly dance you do when no-one is watching... Well, moving on. On my never-ending list of things to do was to write an introductory email to the ''Promo Girls''. Who are they - I hear you ask? Well, so far we have, Landy, Amelia, Lisa, Elizabeth and Marisa. Charming girls, recruited to be at my live shows to mingle with the crowd and encourage them to join my mailing list etc. If you happen to be at one of my shows they can't be missed, 'cause they'll be wearing Nike Jemiyo T-shirts so say hi! (And when you're done please say hi to me too!)
Talking about live gigs I somehow managed to secure another one in like 5 minutes today. I sent an email, got a reply, made a call and now I'm performing at Bar Rumba on the 12th October. Crazy!
Speaking of things not taking very long, a talented friend of mine who goes by the stage name ''Husky'' has been GMA nominated for best Gospel Act 2010. It takes like 45 seconds to vote! http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=137003283012775&ref=ts
So back to my day. My swollen glands a less swollen, but still a little nervous about singing at the gig tomorrow. Really looking forward to the presenter auditons on Sunday. Now you're thinking ''Presenters???''
Why is Nike Jemiyo holding presenter auditions? Well watch this space for more news to come. I promise its gonna be awesome...

Swollen glands! :(

I woke up today with swollen glands! Not a happy bunny, but oh well I must press on - no rest for the wicked! Tiffany, one of my interns has set up a meeting with a photographer she knows, his name is Julian. We also have interviews with two make-up artists, Sarah and Sue. (Sarah is going to be doing make-up on VV brown soon!). Before I head out, I post up an add on gumtree for a guitarist - looking to complete my band of very talented and funny musicians. Its about 1p.m.- time to leave, barely catching my train! So I rock up to the Southbank, on time for once and meet Juls, who seems pretty quirky and cool. Then Tiffany gets a call form one of the make-up artists saying she is upstairs. Tiff heads upstairs to pick her up but comes back downstairs with TWO girls. Not what we planned, a mix up with the timings I guess. So now we have to awkwardly interview both of them at the same time. (Not a situation I want to be in again!) Anyways, they both end up showing their expertise on my face - fun times - I'm feeling fairly glamourous. All in all, both girls seem really cool and great at what they do. I head home after the meeting exhausted! It's crazy how much hard work it is being a model, hehe. But seriously all I want to do is sleep and I have a long list of things to do with new emails coming in! Matt, my manager wants me to try and get some gigs during the black history month. He's sent a ton of websites and asks me to make calls. I begin this insane task over a hot cup of lemon and honey. Insane because,1) I am ill and 2) black history month is NEXT MONTH. We are definitely behind in this, but you never know, something might come out of it, so I begin. By 10.30 p.m. my throat is still hurting and I'm praying I'll be well for the gig on Saturday. Hopefully I'll awake tomorrow with no swollen glands...
